Legal Provision Allowing Hosts to Supply Liquor for an Event in Texas
In Texas, it is legal for a host to supply liquor for an event under the “Texas Alcoholic Beverage Code” Section 32.48. This provision allows hosts to provide alcoholic beverages at events without obtaining a liquor license, as long as certain conditions are met.
According to Section 32.48 of the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Code, a person may provide alcoholic beverages without a license at a private event or function that is not open to the public if:
1 The person providing the alcohol does not receive any form of compensation directly or indirectly related to the provision of alcohol.
2 The event is held at a private residence or on premises owned or leased by the host.
3 The guests attending the event do not pay for the alcohol directly or indirectly.
This provision essentially allows hosts to serve alcohol at private events such as weddings, parties, and gatherings without needing a liquor license, as long as they adhere to the specified conditions outlined in the law.
Therefore, under Section 32.48 of the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Code, hosts can legally supply liquor for an event in Texas without obtaining a liquor license, provided that certain criteria are met.
